LastCall

Premium photo sessions are completely filled for the remainder of my stay in Okinawa, and I’m still receiving inquiries daily for photo lovin’. So, I squeezed and poked and prodded some space in my calendar for an efficient set of fun loving sessions before I get on a big jet plane to the states. Sniff. Here’s the scoop:

We meet at a location of my choice, shoot the bull, shoot YOU, hug farewell, then within 2-3 weeks you receive a CD in your mailbox with every image. Easy peasy!

Here’s how you book. First, let me know you are interested by filling out this FORM. Next, I will email you a choice of dates/times to choose from (between now and June 30).

Q&A

Q: What’s it cost?

A: $595. Clients-$450.

Q: Will they be edited like the photos on your website?

A: Only minimally. No extensive photoshopping like skin retouching or adding hair to your bald spot (you know who you are). =)

Q: How many photos are we talking about here?

A: Seriously, how ever many I take which will greatly be determined by the number of people involved. Roughly 30-60. This is limited to 1-3 people only, but I’ll be happy to shoot the whole family of returning clients.

Q: How is this different from your premium sessions?

A: The photography is the same. It’s just the time and expense that are different. My premium clients receive a longer session, any number of people, more locations, one-on-one consultation, more options to buy, etc. Investments are upwards of $895-$2400 for digital images and wall art products. My time with Last Call clients will be shorter and the price is low.

January 5, 2010

Happy New Year everyone! It’s sooo refreshing to start a new year. It’s strange but I feel like a new person each January 1st. I got a head start a couple weeks ago on my list of personal and professional resolutions I want to obtain this year. 2009 was an amazing year in business-meeting beautiful new people and growing in the industry. I became a better business woman in 2009, and I embrace the climb in business. I spent a lot of time doin’ what I love-photographing-but way more time in editing. I’ve decided my #1 resolution professionally is to streamline. streamline. streamline. My goal in 2010 is to cut my post processing time in half. I’m pouring over various ways to streamline my post production all while maintaining the high standard of service that my clients have come to know and enjoy. I spend too much time editing more than photographing, and while I don’t want that to completely flip-flop I want the two to come to a happy medium. I had to turn away a lot of potential clients last year because I frankly did not have the time to edit. Boo. Hiss. BOO! I don’t want to do that. I want to spend more time shooting this year (hanging with cool people) and less time on the computer (lonely in a little room). Thankfully, I work at night, so my kids are not going to notice a difference except for a more well rested mommy. =)

Thank you to all the wonderful couples, babies, new mommies and families I photographed last year. You are a blessing to me, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to capture a slice of life for you. I’m doing what I love, and it makes my heart burst with joy when I see your happiness in my photographs.

This new year is going to bring huge changes to Kerry Mills Photography. We will be moving, saying good bye, and starting over in a new place (mid-summer). Loads of work ahead, but I embrace the change. A new favorite quote of mine is “Sometimes the greatest change brings about an even greater opportunity” (yes, I get my quotes from kid movies).  I can’t wait to see what’s next in store for Kerry Mills Photography! We will not be PSCing until July-ish, so I am still booking photo sessions and lovin’ every minute in Okinawa!flippyfloppiesI have a love affair with flip flops. I have way too many pairs. Too may colors. I go into mourning through the winter, and my feet scream inside of close-toed shoes. They’re screaming right now. Looking forward to warmer weather….

A large portion of my time is spent not taking photographs, but assisting my clients on how to best display their session portraits. By far, the most popular product I carry for large wall displays is gallery-wrapped canvas (applause, please). I loooooooooove these. Portraits become fine art when printed on premium canvas, and the best feature–they come ready to hang. There’s no need to invest in custom framing!

In comes Karen, a recent client and new mommy. She had two images she wanted in canvas but wasn’t sure how to display them together since one was horizontal and one was vertical. Now I’m no interior designer, but I know photos. Part of what you receive from Kerry Mills Photography is the inspiring ideas I have for how to display your session portraits. Even before we meet up for the session we’ve talked about how you envision your portraits on a wall. So, Karen gave me her two desired images and said “you pick it.” After choosing two sizes that compliment each other I then showed her a sample of how they would look hung together on a wall (below). {Psssttt–listen up clients–I can even do this with a wall photo from your own home! Are your wheels turning now?! } It makes a world of difference seeing how yummy your images will look on a wall before ordering.

wall sampleKaren’s canvases came in over the weekend, and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. Simply stunning. Thank you, Karen for trusting me and letting me share your story. Your growing family is just beautiful. I can’t wait to see these on your wall. =)
